The Nature of Corten Steel
Corten is intentionally designed to weather. As the steel is exposed to moisture and the elements, it develops a protective surface patina that evolves from its original raw appearance into the rich, earthy coloration for which weathering steel is known. During the initial weathering period, some runoff may occur and can temporarily stain adjacent stone or concrete surfaces.
